1. All works submitted must reflect DAP’s value of anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices. We will not accept works that contain culturally appropriative themes, racist depictions, or any other forms of oppressive behavior.

  2. All works submitted must be trauma informed and sensitive to others who are impacted by domestic violence. We understand that art is a powerful tool that can be used to process emotions and trauma, but we also want to ensure that our website is a safe space for everyone. Artwork is accepted at the discretion of our leadership team, and we may decline pieces that depict graphic violence, or utilize content warnings as deemed necessary.

  3. All works submitted may not contain overt political messaging, promotion of brands, or any other endorsement of external organizations that do not align with our mission and values.

  4. Understand that by submitting your work, you are agreeing to having your pieces publicly displayed on our website and social media platforms. For those who are actively involved in domestic violence situations, this may create an issue of personal safety. If you need specific accommodation regarding the publication of your work, please include this information in the text of your submission. Please also include whether or not it is safe to contact you via email.

  5. If you are a person who has formerly used harm in your relationship, we ask that you do not submit unless you have taken steps toward personal accountability. This may look like graduating from a domestic violence intervention program or finding personal healing through individual therapy. We believe accountability is the foundation for change and trust-building in relationships.

  6. If your artwork is selected, we request that you fill out an informed consent form before we publicly share your work.

  7. Please be aware that the art you create may unintentionally reveal personal details or emotions about you, whether through the choice of subject, symbolism, or underlying themes. While art is often a personal expression, it's important to consider how it might be interpreted by others, as it could offer insights into your inner world that you might not have intended to share.

  8. Please note that the art you submit is not intended for commercial purposes or as a means to sell your work. The focus is on sharing and expressing creativity, not on marketing or selling your art.
